Is your church
centered in Biblical truth and teaching the will of God?
5 Biblical
Principles To Know For Sure
Today people are
bombarded with tons of information.
We take time to read and understand all we need to know
before purchasing a home or car, but when it comes to the biggest
decision of their life some people never question the information
they get from others. Do
not be misled by someone when it comes to your relationship with
God. The following 5
principles (taken from the Bible) will help you to determine if
the church you attend is following in the will of God and is
centered in Biblical truth.
1) Salvation
Through Faith
When you have faith in something there will be outward evidence of
your faith, but this outward evidence is not what brings
conviction in your heart. You
cannot go to heaven simply by paying tithes, going to church
service, being a Sunday school teacher or other good deeds.
Attend a church that teaches the only way to heaven is
through faith in Jesus Christ.
That you must accept by faith that Jesus is the only Son of
God and believe in your heart that He paid for your sins with His
life, so you may have eternal life.
John 3:16, Acts
4:11-12, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9
2) Receiving
Of The Holy Spirit
Just like when you introduce a light source into a dark room,
instantly the room is no longer dark.
At first there still may remain some shadows, but if the
light source becomes big enough and bright enough then eventually
all the shadows will be consumed.
Your church should help you to understand that after
accepting Christ into your life a transformation begins to take
place from the inside out. The
light of the Holy Spirit of God is introduced into your dark heart and if you let it, will become big enough and
bright enough to consume all darkness. Matthew
3:16, John 20:22, Acts 2:1-4, Titus 3:5
3) Forgiveness
Of Sin
There are times when we have broken a promise, hurt others
feelings or done things we should not have done. And when this happened the only way to reconcile the
situation was to sincerely apologize, admit we were wrong and ask
for forgiveness. God
knows our nature and knows we have evil hearts.
That is why He sent His son to do what we could not do for
ourselves, gain forgiveness for our sins.
To truly grow in our Christian walk we must walk in the
path God has set for us and when we fall, tell Him we are sorry
and ask for forgiveness. God
knows the difference between a repentant heart that makes mistakes
and one that lives in sin. Make
sure your church is clear on the difference as well.
Romans 3:23-24, I
Corinthians 15:3, Titus 2:14, I John 1:9
4) A
Relationship With Our Lord
In order to have meaningful relationship with someone there must
be open communication and clear understanding. God desires to have a personal relationship with each of us,
even more than we desire it from Him.
To have a relationship with God there must be
communication, which comes from our daily prayer.
Open prayer with God is made possible when we have clean
hearts and are truly seeking to follow in His plan for our lives.
We must also have clear understanding, which comes from the
daily study of God’s word.
When we are reading the Bible and studying God’s word
daily we begin to understand what He wants for our lives.
Everything in life, no matter how big or small, takes a
distant second place to your relationship with Christ.
Your church should have clear commitments to prayer and
study of the Bible so you can develop a stronger and more intimate
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Matthew 6:5-13,
Romans 12:12, Philippians 4:6
5) Love For
Your Brother
As you were growing up you were most likely required to follow
certain rules in your house.
These rules were set to protect you because your parents
loved you and wanted what was best for you.
Now God, able to love us completely unconditionally and
even more intimately than we love our own children, gave us a
model for living through his son Jesus Christ.
Jesus lived perfectly without sin on this earth and showed
us through his life how we should follow.
He did not judge others on their faults or shortcomings,
but showed love to all. The
church you attend should, by action not words, show love and
compassion to others and use Jesus Christ as their example for
life.
Leviticus
19:18, Romans 12:9-10, James 4:11-12, I Peter 3:8-12
These principles
are not based from single or obscure passages. They are
repeated time and time again throughout the Old and New
Testament. These are foundational truths in the Bible and if
they are being omitted or glanced over in the church you attend,
you might want to ask God if that is where He wants you to be.
