Delivered by Terry Simpson The following is my personal testimony and what I was before I received eternal life. I was lost in the world, but always thought I was in control of my life. I was living a sinful life and was not thinking about anyone but myself. For nearly half my marriage I was living in adultery and living a sinful lifestyle. As I found myself going deeper and deeper I started to remove myself further from my family all the time thinking this is what I wanted. Then one Saturday morning in August reality hit and the devil revealed himself to me. I heard a car horn blowing in my driveway and went outside to see a girl calling my name as my wife came behind me carrying a pistol. In the span of a few minutes God took control and by his grace I survived that day. Days later returning home from work, I walked in to a house and finally saw and felt the pain I had put on my wife. I was convinced at that moment that my marriage was over, but God had other plans. It took a few days, but God revealed to me the forgiving heart in my wife. I asked God and then my wife for forgiveness and knew in my heart I had to make a decision to live for God or for the devil. I chose to live for the Lord. I offered God no promises I just asked him to come into my life and show me the way. Shortly after giving my life to the Lord, a young man invited me to a men's Bible study and for the first time I saw and felt God truly working in my life. My heavenly Father knew what I needed to grow and this Bible study was a very good start. It was the milk that I needed as a newborn person in Christ Jesus. Soon after even people in my work place started giving me material about the Lord and how to live my life through Jesus. Now I realize I have eternal life through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now each and every day I open my eyes and thank God for giving me another day to seek and do what is pleasing to Him. I still had issues in my life that needed his help and attention. Before I was baptized, I asked God to take anything that would hinder Him from doing His will in my life. The old man is dead and now I have a new life in Christ and I thank God everyday for it. I seek righteousness and I know the truth because the Holy Spirit inside guides me. I now try to obedient to God's word and follow the example my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ showed us. He gave us two great commandments; to love God with all our heart, mind and soul and to love each other as Christ loves the church. I know in my heart that I will be with Christ Jesus, today and for eternity. Terry Simpson |
