Stories From Hope Community Center
The following is about two young children who have been given help,
hope and love at the Hope Community Center. And have
received the wonderful blessing of Jesus Christ's love in their
lives.
Name: Peter Gitau Wanjiku
Born: September 12, 1991
Peter was born in Ndunyu - Njeru town. His mother was working as a barmaid. She died in 1993 after a lengthy suffering from asthma. He was left under the care of his grandmother who struggled to supporthim. Peter moved to the streets of Ndunyu – Njeru town with his friends. Sniffing glue until the time we met him with a serious illness. He suffered from malnutrition and typhoid. Sister Lucy felt pity and was touched by his situation and started to treat Peter as her son. Peter is now healthy, and has hope and a dream to be a preacher of the Gospel of Christ. He is thankful to God for what Hope Community Center has done in his life.
Name: Grace Emeruka
Tribe: Turkana
She was born in Rift-valley province of Kenya. When Grace was one and half years old her parents left her in their small house inside a basket. After staying there for three days God sent a good Samaritan woman who was just passing by. As the woman approached the shelter she saw the child and thought the child was dead. After giving her first aid the child started to open her eyes and that is when she realized the child was still alive.
Later in the same year the woman became weak and felt seriously ill. She approached a man and after telling the whole issue to him, he felt touched and gave the woman directions to Hope Community Center. We welcomed Grace who is now seven years old. She is hardworking and active in the center. And has come to know Christ as her Savior.
