Returning to the Beginning

The bible says if any man be in Christ he is a new creature. This is the beginning that all of us drift from after a long period of assimilation into the context of our Christian environment. We do not leave willingly or even in a conscience effort to do so, but in a slow quiet settlement into the padding of the easy chair of religious practice. The greatest reason for such a folly is that all the common Christians we have come to practice our belief with are lounging on the same cushions. It is very difficult to be a brash novelty or flaming torch amongst an aging dinosaur with layers of traditions and repetition.

If we do stir up a little dust, it is tolerable because we are young and naïve and once we get a little age and maturity upon us we are sure to settle down. This may be true of many who finally give way to the current, but once a person has been touched by heaven, he or she will do no less than stir up hell if not for any other purpose than to keep from becoming morbid and rigid. Legislation has been fought many times over freedom in art and how people express their creativity, but the greatest of artist who made all the brilliant colors of earth, sky and sea gives birth to a New Creature in Christ who must express the person of who God is against the religious tide. Why should the church or the individual be content with information and education when they can touch God and yield to God touching them?

It’s ok to be wary and careful not to leave the tried and true path of God’s holy word, but remember that same word you trust is dripping with divine intervention that cannot be educationally expelled of its power nor logically decapitated of its wonder working authority over sin, disease, devils and disaster. Here lies the crux of this New Creature we are in Christ we are born from another world, "heaven". We are under another rule "God’s Kingdom." The sea walker, the blind man healer, the leper cleansing man from Galilee LIVES in me. I can’t stop him from healing, driving out demons, raising the dead and preaching the gospel of salvation to a lost and dying world; and why would I won’t to? Return to the beginning, when your first knowledge of Jesus believed him for anything, and you didn’t have any theology to doubt him for everything.
